Nancy, my heart goes out to you and your entire family. Kurt was truly, truly a wonderful, blessed and valued friend to me. We met at Western Wayne Correctional Facility in 1985/86 and remained the greastest of friends. Kurt often provided me with the best advice and directions a person could ask for. Kurt was one of the smartest and most logical friends I had. We frequently called each other “Couz” publicly and to throw people further off balance, Kurt would frequently say “ Mom missed you at dinner.” That was our inside joke. I will always cherish the many memories, advice and friendship Kurt and I had. My prayer is for God to provide you and your family with the strength you need and allow you to cherish and share the many, many beautiful and great memories each of you may have.

Nancy, Kurt was a true mentor and friend. He taught me how to be a Deputy and a Warden. Kurt had a way of lifting me up at my weak points. I enjoyed our phone calls after we retired. Heaven gained another angel this week. My God bless you and give you comfort.

Dear Nancy:
Our whole family is so very sorry to learn of Kurt's passing. You both have been such a blessing to us: welcoming my dad & I into your home as he took us pheasant hunting, to welcoming our youngest son & I into your home to take us deer hunting. He has been a dear friend to me since I was a high school kid, and then he married you and you both became wonderful friends to my growing family. Our son Ben put it best: Kurt was one of the last great connections he had with my dad, grandpa Dale. As you know, Kurt's connection with my dad is what brought he & I together. Kurt was actually dad's supervisor, but he never thought that way; I respected him so much for telling me that. I say all this to let you know how much we appreciate you and Kurt coming to our kids' graduation parties and always staying in touch and checking in. We are so very sorry to learn of his passing and hope you know that we are here to support you whenever needed. You guys have been great friends to the Strong family for a couple of generations, and you will continue to be. May God wrap His peace around you and the entire Jones family.

I am so sorry to hear this!!! I was fortunate enough to have worked for Kurt at Carson City!! I really enjoyed and admired this man!! He was always open to discussing issues and brainstorming on how to solve them. Kurt pushed you to be better and to understand all sides of whatever you were working on and with. I especially liked when he pulled out his “I am only a hick from Vickeryville Michigan But can you explain to me why h. . . “. - when he said this you knew he had you on something you had done. Never did this in a malicious manner but boy you just thought “oh oh” when he said it. I do think very fondly on my time working with Kurt and am sad that we lost a great guy and leader!!!
